Forests

I was walking through the woods,
And I saw fields of trees,
So many were withering,
but a few were living,
Then I stopped at one,
It was so full of life!
Set apart from the rest.
When the sun would shine,
It's leaves were such a radiant maroon,
And they looked so luminous waving in the sun,
These leaves were so full,
They provided more than shade,
They brought comfort and peace.
When i saw the wood of this tree
I noticed it was so small,
It seemed it would snap in a storm,
but i was wrong,
It's wood was dense!
And it's roots were so far below!
This tree would stand tall against the rest,
even though it was so small,
When it's fruit ripened,
O if i could express my love of it's fruit!
It's taste was  sweet,
So filling and satisfying.
If only i could keep this tree,
Call it my own!
I would proudly display it,
For anyone passing by.
I thought,
Surely this tree has been in different sun,
It's soil must be rich,
And it's water so pure.
Then I observed it's base,
I know of no better foundation!
It was rooted within a rock,
holding it tightly in place,
And when I had gone home,
When I came out of the forest,
I couldn't wait for the next day,
To revel again in God's creation
